Icelandic Hot Dogs

When you come to Reykjavik, you must try this most famous hot dog in town. The hot dog stand is called Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur or in English, Town's Best Hot Dog. It is situated opposite a car parking lot along Posthusstraeti.
It is the cheapest fast food in town, the hot dog(made of lamb) is served on fresh bread. Toppings are mustard sauce, ketchup, fried onions, fresh onions and remúladi. You can choose which toppings you want to skip. Most people like with everything( all the toppings). The former US President, Bill Clinton made a visit to Iceland and drop by at this stand in 2004. The Guardian in 2006 ranked Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur 2nd best food stand in Europe(The Guardian)

It is the cheapest food in town A set of hot dog with a cup of coke cost about 300 Isk. Having tasted the hot dog, I will only go for lamb as meat grilled, roast or boiled. The hot dog is too oily and taste too "lamby". I think eating lamb hot dogs, the taste for it has to be acquired. I only like chicken hot dogs which is easier to swallow. It is produced by Holta. Below is picture of ready to eat hot dogs topped with mustard sauce, fried onion and ketchup
